Title : Companion

Companion is what I need.
I just need someone to listen.
There's no need to feedback about anything,
just a response that you are listening will do.
I need a pair of listening ears that ain't mine.

Title : Definition of Plagiarism and Cheating

Plagiarism is committed when you use someone else's ideas or writing or performance and pass them off as your own.
- Refer to document: HMS Guidelines on Cheating, Plagiarism and Adherence to Deadlines

The school's definition and stance on cheating is as follows:
"defrauding, being dishonest, and/or being deceitful" (Agnes, ed., 1998)
Any student who uses unauthorised materials and/or seek answers from other students and/or attempts to obtain information illicitly, is considered to be cheating if such an activity occurs during a quiz, test, or similar assessed work/performance.

With reference to Ngee Ann Polytechnic Addendum on Plagiarism.

I had gained a priceless experience. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to one of my dearest classmate, who I think doesn’t want her name to be mentioned.

As early childhood educators-to-be, she already had all the professional ethics, values and quality of a certified educationalist. Few of my friends and I were very fortunate to have her in several of our group projects.

First, she is a very responsible young lady. She remembers that we had to get a letter to inform the centre’s supervisor about going to the centre to observe for one of our assignment. Not only so, she had in mind that we have to notify parents of the children we are going to conduct the observation on through a letter of consent as well. She waited for the replies before she conducted her observations. Secondly, she re-conducted her individual observation several times as she wasn’t happy about what she had done. Isn’t she a very ethical and professional early childhood educator? She is taking all her work very seriously.

Not only is she principled, she is also very creative and innovative! Taking our major project (IEP) as an example, she had showcased her originality, resourcefulness, and imagination!

Originality, what do I mean by that? Well, when all of us were cracking our brains, and brain juices running low in coming up with the research topic, she voiced out her idea. We were astonished by the topic she came up with within seconds. It was the one and only research topic! She is so creative, innovative and productive!

Resourcefulness, why? She had done a lot of contribution in all the research work for this project. She makes the effort to visit the library, look and read up on resource books related to the research topic. After she went home, she even searched for more information online! When the group was typing out the literature review, data that she had gathered was very useful and were used in majority of the literature review. She even volunteered herself to help out with the editing of the final work. She is so hardworking and capable!

Yes, she is very imaginative as well! She was very skillful in paraphrasing sentences, and rephrasing it in a nicer way. Not only so, she is able to make very accurate assumptions. Her imaginations were being used to its full potential in several modules!

I feel that she is also a very excellent storyteller. Maybe someday she might even publish her own book!

To have a friend like her is definitely a delightful and blessed occurrence!
